Hi Henny

Over the past couple of months a number of people from Gruden have been busily translating articles and tutorials into Chinese & Portuguese. These translations are available at http://www.gruden.com/translations and a bit of background at http://blog.gruden.com/2009/02/web-standards-translations-launched/. Hopefully there will be more coming soon.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Cheers
Mark

I'd been paying attention to Web Standards in China since 2005. A lost case and rather depressing situation I would say. The mass as a whole just don't have that type of mindset to care, I also think that their advanced mobile phone culture has attributed to it.

To me, web standards and accessibility are based one one principle: "people oriented" with Laozi's philoshopy - 以人为本. It's ironic that the Chinese communist party's core principle is also based on "people oriented" - 以人为本.

Despite this, a small group of web developers do care and understand the importance of Web Standards. Speaking of Web Standards in China, a big credit should go to blueidea.com (蓝色理想) - one of it's forum is a Mecca of web standards movement. There are many fine web developers in China do care, and I humbly think you Western web developers should give them lots of credit and encouragement for the reason that they lack the resources and often time have to learn the knowledge second hand or rely on bad translations from online translation tools.
