Ian Hickson (Hixie) was born in Geneva, Switzerland, where he lived for ten years. He then moved to West Wiltshire, United Kingdom, where he lived for a further ten years. After a year interning for Netscape in the Bay Area, California Hixie returned to the UK prior to emigrating to Oslo, Norway, where he worked full time for Opera Software for two years.
